Elmer Letterman & Relationship Marketing

Awhile back, I had this interesting experience on Facebook where I met a new friend, we start talking and we realized we were both in networking marketing companies, but I wasn’t familiar with her company or products. She asked if I would like to sample it, so I said sure. I am open, like to learn and try new things. I wasn’t sure if it was something I would like, but I try to remain open and if not for myself, maybe for someone I know. To which I asked if she would be interested in trying my product. No reply, a couple of days go by and then I get a reply with ‘well, what is it?’. I briefly described it and I didn’t hear back. Then I received a message which said, oh I think I saw that before, no not interested in buying it.
Well, I sat and thought for a moment, how interesting. I scanned over our messages making sure I hadn’t mis-wrote anything, as I wasn’t trying to sell her anything, I was sharing a free sample just like her.
Then I received another message to which she went right into that I would probably like the sample she had sent, and that I could buy from her, and she would show me how I could get a discount and make money with it.

So I replied with a message that started like this, ‘So let me see if I understand this correctly………’

Haven’t heard back!

Hummm

That was when my husband shared this story he had found in Success Magazine and if only we all could adapt more of this mindset, how incredibly successful we would or could all be.

Elmer Letterman

There was a highly successful New York city Insurance salesman in the 1930’s. For more than a decade Elmer Letterman hosted networking lunches every Friday at the Four Seasons restaurant. His strategy was simple:
Invite three business people who should meet due to mutual interests. He did his homework too, arriving with ideas on how the three could work together.
For example, Letterman might invite a chef who wanted to start a restaurant, a banker who could finance it and a construction executive who could build it. He’d explain why each party was credible and relevant to the others, begin the conversation, pay the bill and leave.
He didn’t bring sales brochures, or pitch insurance. He introduced all the people at the table, stoked conversation and disappeared.

How did these networking investments pay off?
Do the math:
3 people times 50 weeks a year for a decade.
Hundreds of business owners throughout New York had Letterman to thank for part of their success.
According to Ivan Misner’s book, Masters of Networking,
Letterman not only developed a reputation as a major contributor to New
York’s business community, he was one of the most successful insurance salespeople of his time.
Now, I know times have changed, but because he focused on promoting
the success of others, then trusted them to think of him when they needed insurance, the system worked!!
He didn’t just add value, he multiplied value.
He dramatically improved the lives of everyone he touched.

That is the secret sauce to success.

Wasn’t it Zig Ziglar that said “You can get everything in life you want if you help enough other people get what they want”.

Thanks Zig, and what do you think?

The Decline: The Geography of a Recession

Very interesting to see the decline in middle class or should I say incline in unemployment.

It is not suppose to get any better this year. What is your Plan B?
I highly recommend reading Robert Kiyosaki’s book Conspiracy of the Rich

Does the Law of Attraction work??

Well, just look around at your life and that will give you the answer.

By that I mean, if you know what you really want, then you are living it. And if you really don’t know what you want, you are living it too. In other words, your outer world is a reflection of your inner world.

The ‘Law of Attraction’ is always at work. You mostly hear about it in terms of how it will help you attract money or abundance in general. But, the ‘Law of Attraction’ dictates that you will receive back exactly what you are FEELING……no matter what you are feeling!!!

Where is your attention? Is it on the feelings associated with the problem or is it with the feelings of no longer having the problems? If one approaches issues with how frustrating this ‘problem’ is, the Universal Law dictates that you will simply attract MORE of those feelings which will attract MORE of those ‘problems’!! It isn’t that the Universe is out to get you, it’s that the ‘Law of Attraction’ is always turned on and depending on how you are feeling is what is being attracted.

Instead, if you can choose feelings on HOW life can be, see it BUT more importantly FEEL it before it shows up, then it will. As I said before the ‘Law of Attraction‘ is always turned on. That’s why knowing what you want, seeing it and believing it can and will happen will make it happen.

Now, it may not always be on your time schedule, but never give up!!

You may think this is hippy dippy stuff, but we must remember, that beyond our flesh and bones we are, at a molecular level, ENERGY and everything is ENERGY.

We were not meant to struggle, work hard for years, have bad health or have to ‘try’ and figure things out. Our job is to feel good and do what we love to do.

So, go get clear and start attracting – what you do want, not what you don’t want!!

Beliefs

What are your beliefs in life, yourself or your business?

Are they empowering or dis-empowering?

Look around at your life and the answers are right in front of you.
If you like what you see, chances are you have empowering beliefs and if not………well, the good news is that you can change them!!

How does one do that?

First it’s about knowing what you do want. It’s having faith as well. Faith is being able to imagine it. When you can imagine it, you can start the process of creating it. See….. the mind does not know the difference between real and imagined, so get clear, get creative and get playful.
It’s the starting point of taking the invisible (imagined) and making it visible (real).

Having hope is for the undecided….. so to get past hope to belief….. create the emotion…. emotions are strong. Look at anger, excitement, hatred, love, doubt, passion and so on. Change your state. Sometimes little things like changing your routine, or putting on some funky music you love and dancing around the house can do it. True success, no matter for what, is really backed by hope, get excited, get inspired, get passionate!!

As that will lead to belief. Belief is rock solid. Now, it may not happen over night, but if you keep working at it consistently, you will get better results which will only re-enforce your belief.
If there are moments of feeling down or uncertain…. “Act as if”… or… “Fake it to you make it”, which is really creating new pathways in the brain, the more you can fake it, the more entrenched your belief will become.

And you can use Tapping to help get rid of any unwanted emotions…….no faith, no belief and so on.

Remember
“Whether you believe you can or you can’t…….You are right!!”

Anything is possible.
It all starts with you!!

Story of the Jar

Story of the Jar

Have you ever heard of the story of  ‘The Jar‘?

It goes like this:

Take one jar,

fill it with the biggest rocks that will fit in untill it’s full…..

then add gravel until it’s full     image jar big rocks

then add sand in to fill the cracks…..

top it off with water until it’s full.

What does a jar full of bigger rocks, gravel, sand and water really mean?

You can look at it in reference to your life and or business.

The bigger rocks symbolize the important things in your life or work. The things that should be done first.  If you don’t fit the big or important things in first, you will not have room for them later on.

Once you place the big rocks in the jar and then have added the gravel and sand, with a little jiggle, they will all find  place on their own.

How much happier and healthier will you be by doing so?

Ask yourself  what is bringing you closer to your goals or how are you really spending your time?  If you are not placing the big rocks first, what are you waiting for?

Law of the Garbage Truck

Wow this is a good one, I can’t take the credit for this at all, but I thought I should at least share.  What a great story!!

image gar truck

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were
driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a
parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his
brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver
of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.

My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was
really friendly. So I asked, ‘Why did you just do that? This guy
almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!’ This is when my
taxi driver taught me what I now call, ‘The Law of the Garbage Truck.’

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around
full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of
disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump
it and sometimes they’ll dump it on you. Don’t take it personally.
Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don’t take their
garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the
streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage
trucks take over their day. Life’s too short to wake up in the morning
with regrets, so..Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the
ones who don’t. Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety
percent how you take it!

Freedom the Eagle & Jeff

Freedom and Jeff

Freedom and I have been together 10 years this summer. She came in as a baby in 1998 with two broken wings. Her left wing doesn’t open all the way even after surgery, it was broken in 4 places. She’s my baby.

When Freedom came in she could not stand. Both wings were broken, her left wing in 4 places. She was emaciated and covered in lice. We made the decision to give her a chance at life, so I took her to the vets office. From then on, I was always around her. We had her in a huge dog carrier with the top off, and it was loaded up with shredded newspaper for her to lay in. I used to si t and talk to her, urging her to live, to fight; and she would lay there looking at me with those big brown eyes. We also had to tube feed her for weeks.

This went on for 4-6 weeks, and by then she still couldn’t stand. It got to the point where the decision was made to euthanize her if she couldn’t stand in a week. You know you don’t want to cross that line between torture and rehab, and it looked like death was winning. She was going to be put down that Friday, and I was supposed to come in on that Thursday afternoon. I didn’t want to go to the center that Thursday, because I couldn’t bear the thought of her being euthanized; but I went anyway, and when I walked in everyone was grinning from ear to ear. I went immediately back to her dog cage; and there she was, standing on her own, a big beautiful eagle. She was ready to live. I was just about in tears by then. That was a very good day.

We knew she could never fly, so the director asked me to glove train her. I got her used to the glove, and then to jesses, and we started doing education programs for schools in western Washington . We wound up in the newspapers, radio (believe it or not) and some TV . Miracle Pets even did a show about us.

In the spring of 2000, I was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma. I had stage 3, which is not good (one major organ plus everywhere), so I wound up doing 8 months of chemo. Lost the hair – the whole bit. I missed a lot of work. When I felt good enough, I would go to Sarvey and take Freedom out for walks. Freedom would also come to me in my dreams and help me fight the cancer. This happened time and time again.

Fast forward to November 2000, the day after Thanksgiving, I went in for my last checkup. I was told that if the cancer was not all gone after 8 rounds of chemo, then my last option was a stem cell transplant. Anyway, they did the tests; and I had to come back Monday for the results. I went in Monday, and I was told that all the cancer was gone.

So the first thing I did was get up to Sarvey and take the big girl out for a walk. It was misty and cold. I went to her flight and jessed her up, and we went out front to the top of the hill. I hadn’t said a word to Freedom, but somehow she knew. She looked at me and wrapped both her wings around me to where I could feel them pressing in on my back (I was engulfed in eagle wings), and she touched my nose with her beak and stared into my eyes, and we just stood there like that for I don’t know how long. That was a magic moment. We have been soul mates ever since she came in. This is a very special bird.

On a side note: I have had people who were sick come up to us when we are out, and Freedom has some kind of hold on them. I once had a guy who was terminal come up to us and I let him hold her. His knees just about buckled and he swore he could feel her power coarse through his body.. I have so many stories like that.

I never forget the honor I have of being so close to such a magnificent spirit as Freedoms.

Hope you enjoy this.

Leading with Intregrity

What is the true definition?

I looked it up in the Oxford Dictionary ( yes a book not on line!!).

Leading – chief, most important, first in position, most popular,
most likely to succeed
Integrity – moral, uprightness, honesty
