Fall Leaves

I am back in Canada and last week had time with a couple of friends to capture some of the beauty of fall colors and also some images of ourselves in the fall beauty and  pushing the boundaries.

Since starting to share my project Raw, Naked and Beautiful – people have been sending me messages of inspiration and also wanting to participate somehow – I see a road trip coming up in 2018!!

And I see much more energy focused in that direction – it is yelling at me that it is needed and wanted.

It has been fun seeing some beautiful spots of the Sunshine Coast in British Columbia and also seeing some of the many trails I spent walking with my dog Spirit – who passed last December – this is the first time I am really back in this area.  I have felt like I’ve been chasing the light – tall cedars, fall, coolness and beautiful colors – much fun!.

After our first day of shooting – staying with my friend we uploaded some of the photos and started looking at them – it’s interesting – (good choice of words eh?) looking at photos of yourself, semi nude and nude.

What is beauty?

Define it yourself – don’t buy into the media / advertising bullshit of you aren’t good enough – remember – we’re all like snowflakes – unique and beautiful in our own way – embrace it!!!

Loving your body just as it is – loving, accepting and knowing who you are – is how I define true beauty!!

It is also living from a higher vibration and consciousness!!

This is just the start of truly opening up, sharing my journey, my healing and how so much in our every day world creates separation – mostly within ourselves, our bodies and keeps us separate and judging one another worse though ourselves.

Food is the Drug of Choice – its within us to start the change!

 

We were all born pure, innocent and full of love.

Somewhere along the line the story got distorted.

The drug of choice for many, especially women, is food.

Along with that drug often comes constant self criticizing, loathing, judging and obsessing about what one ate, didn’t eat, body size, shape and imperfections – no matter how small they may seem, it always gets distorted.

Yes, media, advertising, possibly parents, teachers, friends or siblings may play a role in somehow reminding us that we aren’t good enough the way we are IF we buy into it and believe it.

Living Beyond Bondage

It’s a disorder gone rampant, with over 91% of women disliking their bodies and themselves, many to an extreme. 80% of 13 yr old Canadian girls have been on a diet already and 95% of people with an eating disorder are between the ages of 12 – 25 yrs.

I know – I’ve been one of them.

The mental, emotional and often times physical bondage is excruciating – yet many hide it well from others.

Stuffing down emotions, or better yet, not feeling them at all.

We often feel alone, fragmented and on our own keeping things bottled up inside.

Feeling Alone, Isolated, Confused and more……..

We are caught in a vicious cycle of self depreciating, devaluing, loathing and often times self abusive – until we decide enough!!

Only 5 % of women naturally have the body type portrayed by women in the media and for which the other 91% are trying to compete, yet we continue to strive for something that truly is not the ‘norm.’

We aren’t good enough the way we are is the constant reminder.

The other 4% don’t have tv, internet or magazines and therefore  they are the free ones.

If we’re going to buy into stories, why not buy into self empowering ones?

Who truly decided what beauty is?

We all have a story to tell – we’re trying to make it a similar to one another and that is the start of the disconnect.

We are born and should be able to be our authentic selves and creatively express who we truly be through our gifts – not by trying to be like one another.

With the start of the disconnect we compare, judge, shut down and buy into someone else’s ideas of beauty and what we should look like and we start our own mantra of not being good enough.

Yet we are like snowflakes – each individually designed, beautiful and unique.

Some of us, remembering that, have broken free from that bondage – most of it being self imposed and mental self talk.

Breaking Free from the Bondage and Realizing it was just all me!

We decided that our lives weren’t about fighting our bodies, hating our bodies or ourselves or spending 95% of our time worrying about a few pounds or what we did / did not eat.

Cause it’s really not about food.

There were too many other beautiful, amazing things to see, feel, be and do in this lifetime.

That is the start of removing the bondage – you allow yourself to feel – ALL and reprogram the self talk.

The one thing that separates a food / body obsessive addiction is you have to learn to live with both, unlike most other addictions.

When one can truly do that – accept and love what is – then the bondage is gone and nothing is more freeing than that.

I know I am one of them!

How is Your Self Talk?

 

When someone is putting you down, leaves you feeling like you can’t do anything right, makes you feel worthless or bad about yourself, doubting yourself or who you are being – just know you’ve done nothing wrong.

Know that that isn’t love – it’s emotional abuse.

Whether from someone or even yourself.

Don’t buy into the bull shit.

Self talk and Self Love are taking your life and living to a higher vibrational way of living and being!

Coming Out

I would like to share with you what Coming Out means for me!

I’ve been in a lot of ‘quietness’ lately after finishing up a 5 month house sit.  One of the joys being in Mexico and having 2 sweet little fur babies to look after – helped with the transition of my dog Spirit passing.  Dogs are such a joy.  Yet I have been enjoying some freedom of no schedule 🙂 oh and the beach since I am back in Sayulita – love it her!!

Also it’s been the rainy season so wetter, damper and different – taking all in.

It’s been a very interesting, revealing, expanding, healing deep inner work this year for me.  I am so grateful for the lessons, challenges, healing, learning and where I am at – well almost 🙂

I’ve been sitting with a few decisions in my life, reflecting, clearing, staying in the question, quiet time on the beach and walking through the jungle and doing much more photography!

I also have been working on a few Photo competitions and Grants to take my project out stronger.

After learning some things that have happened recently in our world then seeing all the #metoo on Facebook – I knew at an even deeper level that the project I started last year (and got put on the back burner) needs to go forward.

It’s not about sexual abuse or harassment – yet it still is a form of abuse – one to ourself though.  When and where does it start? Could have a tie in???

I created a program that has been beta tested and is starting to take off – 21 Days Food & You – Stop the Insanity for anyone that struggles with Emotional Eating, Low Self Esteem or Body / Food Issues.  Every day for 21 days you get an email with a tool to use to start creating change in your life and being.  They work – I know – I’ve used them and helped myself heal from an eating disorder, low self esteem and body issues.

My Photo project will be moving forward too even stronger – I am working on the details there!!

I feel in my heart it’s time for things to change in this world, women to step back into their power and know their worth and see their beauty and uniqueness – we can do that for ourselves, our children, men and the planet.

We can be Powerful yet Gentle, Beautiful, Soft and Loving at the same time especially with ourselves.

I look forward to this journey and sharing what I submitted as a Proposal – it will be the first time truly coming out of the closet yet with 91% of women dissatisfied with their bodies and more……..the timing is perfect!

Being Present in Each Moment

Being Present – sounds easy doesn’t it?

It should be yet it’s not – I get tested every day – every moment – we all do.

It’s showing me how little I have been present many times in my life – the now is constantly changing and if we are thinking about the past and should haves and what ifs then we are not present.  If we are worried about the future, stressed about money or whats going to happen then we are not present.

Having a conversation with someone and thinking about your reply as they are speaking we are not present.

Surfing the internet while talking to a friend on the phone – we are not present.

I could go on! 🙂

I had an interesting interaction Sunday morning on the beach – fairly early yet not as early as I usually go – I had my camera on the tripod and I had it aimed at a big rock and some smaller rocks on the edge of the ocean – I was doing long exposure – so it wasn’t a quick point and shoot, but regardless my camera was set up.  Two ladies in their 20’s came along and climbed up the rock – I was about 20 ft away, and they  proceeded to stand on the rock and take selfies for about 10 mins.

Now I could have reacted, gotten pissed off, but I just observed.  I laughed watching it all to be honest and I also watched any judgments I had.  I could have let it ruin my moment, my day or my shoot – I chose none of the above. I am not a person who usually gets angry but I do get frustrated – didn’t choose that one either.

Being Present in each Moment

Conscious Living is about being more present in each and every moment no matter what you are doing or what is going on but it is also about knowing you are the creator of your life and you do have choice in each moment – how you respond or react.

Not always easy I know, yet the more we practice it the easier it will become and life can become more of a flow and more magical!

We all have stories, triggers, patterns and programs running – oh and much brain washing that has happened – by becoming more aware of them, healing, releasing, or clearing them we can become more conscious in our every day lives.

After all, isn’t it YOUR life?

Conscious Eating brings more Light into the Body!

What is Conscious Eating?

Instead of eating mindlessly, putting food into your mouth almost unconsciously, not really tasting the food you’re eating, sitting in front of the tv or computer or the phone … you notice your thoughts, feelings, and sensations. You learn to pay attention to: Why you feel like eating, and what emotions or needs might be triggering the eating if it’s truly not hunger!

In todays world of over 200 ‘diets’, many products, processed foods,  fast foods, entertainment, advertising there is so much emphasis on food and body and yet health problems, obesity and eating disorders keep rising.

If you are a Vegetarian, that’s not good enough for the Vegans, if you’re a Vegan that is not good enough for the Raw Foodies and if you’re Raw then that is not good enough for the Breathatarian.

What if you’re an Emotional eater?

Addiction is something that every one of us has experienced at one point or another to something!! We’re quick to point to the “big” addictions as being the obvious saboteurs in our lives, like drugs, alcohol,  smoking but what about the gradual and socially acceptable drug of choice—food?

It’s the number one killer of our bodies and thief of our joy, that causes heart attacks, obesity, diabetes, certain cancers, dementia, depression, eating disorders and so many other diseases.

Through my cycles of an eating disorder, emotional eating / not eating, becoming a Raw For Chef then letting all points of view go to come to a balance that truly works for me – I’ve learned a lot!! 🙂

This is some of what I feel I know since I cleaned up many of my emotional triggers I didn’t need to use food to fill the hole in myself that I was feeling or stuff down (over eating or binge eating) the emotions I didn’t want to feel.

That I need to eat what is right for me and my body – it’s easier to listen to it when the food is clean.  My body does well eating mostly fresh or real foods yet it goes through stages of wanting more protein and sometimes cooked foods depending on where I am – big difference between living in Mexico and Vancouver for weather!!  I enjoy what I put in my mouth – if I don’t or my body doesn’t like it I don’t eat it – I don’t care how good it is for me!!  I have cleaned up my body and taste buds so that I know the difference – not like eating highly processed foods then having a wheat grass drink and hating it – no not that way!! 🙂

Once we get rid of the highly processed foods we can actually tune into our bodies better and what they truly desire  and when not what we think we should eat.  The SAD pyramid way of eating has done a lot of damage in many ways!  As with many other diets – we need to learn to trust ourselves and what OUR body is telling us NOT diets or measurements or times!  There is nothing better than conscious eating – being conscious and doing anything  really – compare it to like sex – are you on your phone or watching tv while having sex? If so maybe it’s not the right relationship!! 🙂

Be Present in the Moment

When I eat I am present – no tv (I never watch the Tel LIE Vision anyways), no computer or on my phone – I have no idea then what I ate or how it tasted!

I slow down when I eat and I also try to pay attention to my conversations – if I’m upset or angry I don’t eat then.  Why? If everything is energy why take on more of that??

I try to bless my food, ask that it provide the most nutrition it can to my body and give thanks – again if everything is energy – Dr Emoto proved it with the water – Gratitude and Love – highest vibes!!  (still working on this one as I don’t always remember yet I do while creating the food in the kitchen).

Not to push my beliefs or my ways onto others – I am not in their body and I have no idea truly what is for  their highest good – I can only make suggestions to possibly wake up someone to a better or different way, a more natural or cleaner way yet with no attachment.

I’ve learned to love myself just the way I am and my body – my only regret with this one is why I didn’t do it sooner – it’s so much easier and freeing.

Tristan – an Amazing Yogi & Being!!

Isn’t it time for ALL of us to truly Live What YOU Love?

I mean with all the chaos and dysfunction whether with people or the weather – it’s become clear to me that there is too much low vibing energy going on.

Stressed out people working pay check to pay check, too much chemical laden junk labelled ‘food’, too many scams, depression, pharmaceuticals and I could go on.

Is this really how we are or were meant to live life?

Judgments on what labels one is wearing, who’s the latest gossip talk about, our bodies aren’t the right size, shape or height and so on.

Maybe we need to start looking at things differently?

Everything we need to be happy and live a life on purpose is inside of us, we just need to slow down or stop, go within and remember who we are!

Not always easy in a society that promotes do do do and buy buy buy.

Yes if you look around one can see clearly it’s not working so well!!

There are a lot of energetic shifts going on and even I am still getting clearer and clearer and having moments of being in the crap.

It’s time to come from our hearts, not our heads. Follow our passions, joy and bliss.

I do know that I love what I share on my blog – it’s all part of my life – I like to keep things simple, pure and clean – from what I eat, to what I put on my body and in my mind.  My Soul loves sunshine, fresh air, quietness and nature whether that is the rainforest, mountains or beach – beach whenever possible though!

Shoe Shiner in Mexico

Living in Mexico for the last while has shown and taught me much.  Many of these people live on a fraction of what we do in North America yet they are always friendly, smiling and appear to be happy.

To me being happy, conscious and love what I am doing is important – after all isn’t everything energy??

When was the last time you did something that you truly love to do or followed your joy?

I had a Massage / Energy work last Friday while listening to the waves of the ocean, the birds and felt the breeze on my skin – it was one of the best sessions I’ve ever had!

Most of us do!

The worst of all beliefs are Self-Limiting Beliefs.  If you believe you are limited in some way, whether it’s true or not, it becomes true for you!

If you believe it, you will act accordingly to embody that limited way of thinking and being.

Overcoming self limiting beliefs and self imposed limitations is often the biggest obstacle in your way.

Becoming your biggest cheerleader is the best gift of self love and not done from ego yet from a deeper sense of knowing self, who you truly be, loving self no matter what, living a life that brings you joy and that you love.

After all Love is the only truth.

You are responsible for the energy you release into the world – become the best YOU you can be!!

Since staying in the Ajijic area of Mexico I have had the chance the meet some amazing people by being part of the Yoga community and getting out to some events and meeting people.  Through the Drishti Center and Ana (an awesome teacher and connector) my name got passed on to meet with Lucia owner of Uranta along side her partner Ian for the project (two more amazing people with great projects on the go and  connectors too).

Followed by a week of teaching the teachers ( who I believe most are musicians and very talented and beautiful beings!) from the school where the project is starting –  Drumming with Ron Cross from Canada teaching them. Ron has been teaching kids drumming and teachers for more than 20 years – it’s in his blood to wake people up to the power of the drum!!

 

 

 

I got to join in with the teachers playing some – I have not picked up my drum in a few years – made me realize how much I missed it – gave it up when I started doing massage – I needed softer hands!! 🙂 Yet I have participated in drum circles especially in Vancouver on second beach Tuesday evenings in the summer – dancing in the sand listening to the heart beat of Gaia – Mother Earth – what an incredible feeling!!

Drumming goes way deeper than beating a drum – anyone who has been involved with drumming whether it’s the actual drumming part, dancing, listening or in one of many healing circles it has huge impact more  energetically, emotionally, spiritually and psychologically than one may realize.

Building Confidence & Community

It has been set up to  be funded through Uranta – this also is exciting! I love these clothes – Lucia is creative and wanted clothing that was unique, comfy and very versatile – she did well.  Maybe you do Yoga, maybe not – but you can wear many items can be worn a few different ways, or layered.  I brought many pieces here to Sayulita where I am now for a bit and everything was wrinkly – within a short time the wrinkles were gone :).
