As you may or may not know I spent the lat 10 days in Cuba! I didn’t just go MIA 🙂
One of the places on my bucket list before it really changed as I so wanted to photograph there.
I don’t know where to begin with my experience – lets just say it was very eye opening and yes I did get to feed my photography appetite rather well!
At the same time there is not internet allowed in homes there, so if you can find a store to buy a card, actually you can find a card much easier not eh street but you will pay 2 – 4 times the amount of a card from the store. You need a wifi card to get on the internet – it’s good for an hour (or so it says – I lost 4 cards for less than 30 mins in time) and you have to find a wifi park – some higher end hotels will have wifi.
It is funny to see 100 or or so people all on their phones in one area – and when there is this many there is no chance of getting on the internet – i did well to log on and then check my email which in itself took awhile as it’s all dial up – OMG – won’t be taking wifi for granted any more!!
While in Cuba I met a guy who took me through all the back streets – places I am sure most people don’t go – he knew it well so I got to see lots and took many photos of Havana most people don’t see!
I am just sharing a few photos here as I have many – it was hard to choose and it may look like I took many cars photos – which I did – it was fun seeing so manifold cars but I took many other too and I will share more in upcoming posts!
I know my eyes got open in Cuba as I did not stay in an all inclusive place – I really got to see some of Cuba – it is a third world country and at one time it was an extremely wealthy country.
It has opened my eyes up to have more Gratitude in my life and my daily choices of even some simple things.
What a way to start 2017 – Look out as some exciting things will be coming down the pipeline here!!
Create a Fantastic Day!
The Adventure Begins
Well it’s been a little over a week since I arrived in Mexico and wow what a week! My adventure truly has begun!
For many of you, you have may have travelled outside of North America – but embarrassing as that may be yes it’s my first time and I am immersed right in Mexican culture. I am learning about the peso, Spanish and how friendly and nice the people are.
In the week since I’ve been here and getting my feet wet so to say I’ve had my Birthday where I was treated to a Mexican lunch on the water and massage with a little walk about in the tourist but very Mexican part of town.
I got a mini tour of Guadalajara, which that downtown makes Vancouver seems like a town – oh my!! Great old Spanish style architecture and an old big church. I also got to meet a family that for 5 generations have been hand painting pottery. I got tour of space that is the same place still over all those years. It takes days to paint a piece and they are well known as Harper and Obama with the Mexican President all used their plate ware etc They have been written up all over the world. What a treasure!
I’ve been to a few markets, walked many cobblestone roads, watched some great sunsets, ate some Mexican food and even took the local bus!
I realize how fortunate we are in North American and well take things for granted!
During this week Mercury also went Retrograde and it’s an extremely powerful time more so than other retrogrades.
The day Mercury went retrograde my long time buddy Spirit passed over into spirit form – not easy being where I was and having to make a decision, but my dear friend who has known Spirit since I got him as a puppy and the co-parent of Spirit (and yes our kids) were there, I couldn’t have asked for anything better – he knew he was greatly loved. We have been so blessed to have him for almost 14 years – he was a great dog. He was a gentle dog yet his wildness came out when protecting the property from bears. He probably set a record for chasing and or treeing many bears!
Coincidence he decided that that day was the day to pass over?? I don’t think so, he was part wolf and extremely smart!
I also gave up my Mushroom Bullet coffee morning ritual………..holy shit not much going on in my world!!
I share that with you as I am setting the stage for 2017.
What do I mean by that?
This Mercury Retrograde is about letting go of things, beliefs, ways that no longer serve you. I have also been diving in deep to my values, my future, why am I here, how do I want to be of service, what is my purpose and how do I operate in this world. How much of the world is set up doesn’t work for many of us. I have been studying and learning Human Design as it’s been the best thing for me to know me better. It has answered so many questions about me. My truth is about being more authentic in the world and helping others see their truth and know who they really are and their beauty and uniqueness. I’ve deepen my knowledge of quantum physics, parallel universes and of course energy!!
Everything is Energy and we ARE Energy!
We spend approximately 1/3 of our life working – are you happy doing what you love or are you collecting a pay check?
We are all highly intuitive – are you following your intuition?
Do you really know who you are or how you want to be in the world?
Do you have a vision, a very clear strong vision of your future, how you want to live, be doing etc?
The moon is in Sagg – which is my sign – its expansive and all about truth and adventure.
It’s a BIG transition going on right now, so if you are feeling the energy good!
Dive in, ask yourself some questions, journal, meditate, cry, dance, move your body, love more and during the holidays try to eat healthy!
Had to throw that in 🙂 by ignoring what you’re intuitively feeling or picking up on by overeating, eating a lot of sugar sweets or one too many cocktails January will be hard for you.
Ask yourself these questions – Are you in love with your life? and Are you in Love with YOU!?? (not egotistically speaking)
This is the time to tap into you, get out of the friggin box, and get creative – if you wanted to work for yourself NOW is the best time.
2017 is going to be an amazing year for people to expand, wake up, truths to be exposed and for many of us to claim our uniqueness, our beauty and our power.
Will you be joining in?
Thanks for stopping by!
PS If you have not heard of Human Design and are wanting answers in your life, about yourself or how you operate in the world my services will be up soon!!
Eating Healthy While Travelling
Many people have asked me about how did we eat healthy while travelling?
If you’ve ever travelled in the USA (and Canada and probably many other places) you will find that it’s all the same restaurants whether sit down, fast food or in between. Has that ever made you wonder why it’s always the same places – you can see the signs on the highway.
I’ve always settled when I travelled but no more as I end up paying for it but ALSO my health is my #1 priority. When I got totally burnt out and needed to sleep like 12 hours plus a day, I will never go back to that. I know stress plays a huge role, but also what I put in my body AND mind.
It’s now my lifestyle and I won’t compromise – that is my choice and I have no judgment of what others do unless they are looking for solutions!
Fast processed foods are mostly chemical concoctions labelled as foods and we have been advertised to so much that we think it’s food. don’t ever settle or buy into the b.s!
When we stopped for gas I would go into the gas stations and some of them were like littlemini malls yet so full of crap – we wonder why obesity is at an all time high, high cholesterol, heart disease, food addictions, food allergies and so on.
We had many picnics somewhere off the highway when we had time and if we were limited we would pull into the rest area as we had our coolers with our foods.
At the same time that I share that – I have to admit I love making food and creating – I am all about creating whether it be in the kitchen, in photography, in new experiences, in art, new friendships – I love creating. I also get not everyone is like that.
What if you came better prepared? You brought a cooler with some food already made or healthier versions that you bought before you left?
There are soooo many great blogs on the internet now with truly healthy recipes – many that are easy to make. Yet if you truly don’t like that or have time, go buy a healthier version of things at the grocery store.
Here are some ideas:
Hummus (of course look for non-gmo) great with veggies or good crackers
Avocados – great on their own or easy to make a quick tasty gac – (next recipe I will post)
Fruit to snack on especially if it’s crunchy.
Raw nuts like Almonds or Cashews – mixed with Raisins (always make sure they are organic as grapes are highly sprayed),
Wraps – great to hide all kinds of veggies
Non-gmo natcho chips with fresh salsa
so many other things once you start looking – easy to get creative here
To some that may seem like extra work, or the thought of ‘Well I’m holidays so I’m not working or I”m going to eat whatever or………’
Life is short – whether you live to 65 or 95 years old – it goes fast. Why not live it feeling the best you can so that each day can be filled with great experiences.
I mean who likes being stuck in a bed or a chair due to an illness that could have been prevented.
“Take care of your body – it’s the only place you have to live!” – Jim Rohn
I really go on about food as I do know and believe the way we eat effects us greatly – if we are constantly taking in garbage then that effects us in how we feel, move and think.
That goes for thoughts too – more on that next time!!
Create a Life YOU Love!!
PS – I had some cool photos of places we stopped to eat and picnic and many were amazing places – I either lost the photos when my hard drive crashed or I just can’t find them yet on my back up…………you get the idea I hope though!
I know for many of us, markets could be a thing of the past with summer ending and well into fall!
I don’t know if you take the time to shop at markets or not but highly encourage you to do so.
I have been hearing from many people similar things like – ‘It must have been hard eating healthy while travelling?’
And the answer is NO!! (a post on that is coming soon too)
David and I live this lifestyle and it’s part of who we are. We don’t just do it when it’s convenient, or get sloppy about our health – as once you lose it, it is so hard to get back. And once you pass a certain point of eating, doing and being the health things you just can’t go back – basically you are awaken and you see the light and truth – there is no going back.
What does all that mean?
Many people think they are eating healthy because they shop at Whole Foods (watch this great video by the Health Ranger, it will open your eyes up and save you money!), or eat packaged foods labelled organic or gluten free, go to a yoga class several times a week, wear Lululemon and eat brunch on the weekend at the latest ‘in’ restaurant. Now I’m being fairly general yet trying to paint a picture -to some it’s part of being in the trend. To others it’s a lifestyle choice.
That type of scenario people are doing better than most, but many do it to look cool…….does one really understand true health, eating healthy, thinking / meditating and being true health and empowered?
What I am realizing is that it takes more than grabbing a juice at your favourite local bar (or off the shelf which to be honest is better than juices in general but for optimal nutrition – juice needs to be drank within an hour of it being pressed fyi for any optimal nutrition) or doing a couple of yoga classes a week – it’s not as much about the body or work out as it is a moving meditation where one takes the practice of non-judgment out in their every day world.
Most packaged foods are still processed even if the ingredients are healthier or organic. Please don’t get me wrong, I eat them too, I am not up on a soap box here, real health still comes down to eating mostly real foods, raw and alive foods, natural foods that aren’t loaded with lead or sprayed with other poisonous things, and of course non-gmo, adding in superfoods, minerals (not isolated ones), eating high quality proteins (yet not too much) from conscious sources, just to name some things.
Which brings me back to markets – this is where we can eat healthier – as most of it is real food. We can get to choose how we spend our dollars, support local farmers, eat what is in season and enjoy the creativity of who is there with some of their healthy food creations (outside of farmers growing organic, non-com foods). Connecting with people that love what they do (for the most part) , you can tell the difference by tasting their goods.
A lot if not most of the food these days I am finding at the markets is organic – woohoo!!
While on our travels we got the privilege of catching a few markets in different states and they were all great. All different, yet similar in that they have fresh foods grown by people who love what they do – they have to as not many will grow their own gardens – many also can’t today that I realize.
So if you live in an area where you can visit a market year round – do so!!
And for the ones that maybe missed the market this year – there’s next year – you won’t be disappointed.
We sampled (and bought) some of the best food I’ve ever tasted from the markets we went to while travelling and yes we have a cooler and I will post on ways to eat healthier and to make it easier while travelling !
Thanks for stopping by!!
The Ups and Downs of Travelling
Just arrived back after travelling for approximately 11 weeks, through 17 states and almost 7000 miles…………..it’s been incredible yet not always easy!! lol Oh the ups and downs of travelling!!
For the most part it’s been fantastic. Saw many places I’ve never seen before, met many new friends, connected with dear friends, wore flip flops lots, took many pictures, found lots of great markets, ate amazing foods (yes while travelling and I will post on that!) and then a few little hiccups that aren’t worth mentioning but some did prevent me from being on the internet like my hard drive crashing YET I did save most of my stuff!!
I will share more of our travels and photos in upcoming posts – I took so many photos as we had so many amazing adventures!!
So many photos – I don’t even know where to begin. I know I probably could have posted more along the way, but while travelling we did stay at places with no internet often, which was a tad frustrating but also awesome – it allowed me to unplug more, be more present, get more into my creative juices and just be and create space where I could explore what I truly desire – not from a materialistic stance but one of feeding my soul, listening to heart, what gets my juices flowing type of space.
I love travelling. There are so many places to see, people to meet, next experiences to have that life is just too short!!
My kids are off travelling and have probably seen more of the world than I have.
Yes I got the bug and I am very fortunate to be able to travel due to having businesses that allow me to work or not wherever I am.
While travelling this time, and having little internet access – which btw, I have found a great solution for and will be able to share more next month – has allowed me time to really dive into some things. Since meeting some incredible people – people who are out of the box thinkers, creators and livers – in other words they truly embody who they really are, live from the heart and their truth and live healthy lives truly inspired me to up my role in my life. I have been feeling flat lined in areas of my life and a sluggishness – it’s either what I added in to my way of eating or how I am thinking now and being or both – either way it’s great.
I have always had an interest in the mystic side of things, health, alternative, quantum physics and it seems like now things are clicking faster and deeper. I am doing more yoga, currently on a 10 Day Transformation and allowing myself time each day to meditate, do breath work and have some creative fun – otherwise I get bored and bitchy!!
I am heading out again come December some time – possible house sitting gigs lining up and to do more travelling and get out of the grey rainy season that is now upon us on the West Coast. With my new phone I will have – posting and being on the internet will never be an issue again, I am so looking forward to taking many more photos and being on top of it better this time – this was like a trial run!!
I will be working on my Raw, Naked and Beautiful Project as that has become very clear to me that it needs to be finished and I will be starting another one to go along with it – which I can’t wait to share!!
There is nothing like feeling great, healthy and in love with oneself and life – not form an egoic sense but a true love that is deep and real.
There were many great things about this trip that all I can say is wow – can’t believe where the time went as it was incredible!!
Thanks for stopping by!!
Just wanted to share another update of our travels. I have not been posting much as you know due to little to no internet and when we do have some its catch up time or time with special friends. This journey is really showing me to be fully present in the moment, trust and be in the flow.
Just on the magic we have been creating I could write so many posts alone!!
Just had to play with some photos!! 🙂
At the same time, when I see what I see going on in the Southern States I have a heavy heart. The crappy food, so much plastic, very overweight people, the speed people are driving AND many of them being on their phones while doing so, being at beaches and watching people be on their phones, the mega malls, the desolate buildings and towns.
Yet despite all of that I have been able to meet some amazing people, open people’s eyes up to some of the crap going on especially around food, emf’s, do more Yoga and take some great photos and yes more of women in the nude are coming – I can’t wait to dive into this project more and more as the more I talk with women the more I know this is so needed!!
We also met some amazing people living their bliss!! And deepened friendships with people already in our lives and on the same path!!
We have been blessed to be on some of the most beautiful beaches in Florida (and we hit many!!), to catching some great views and music in.
New Orleans, to beautiful canyons in Texas (no snakes thank goodness but some great nude shots!!) and now we are in New Mexico – my first time and I can’t wait to take more photos.
I can’t wait to share more info and images – so please keep coming back!!
My Photography site is being worked on as we speak – there will be many more photos there shortly!!
I am so grateful for being able to travel, share great healthy things and taking photos – may you be so blessed as well!!
Thank you for stopping by!!
PS – While we have been on our travels we have lost a few friends, one close, some more acquaintances, doesn’t matter – they were all amazing people and life is too short NOT to be living your bliss, your dharma, your passions – full of vitality, love and not giving a rats ass of what others think (as long as it doesn’t harm anyone or anything!!)
As you may or may not know I have been on the road travelling for the past week – 2500 miles, through 11 states in the USA.
My beloved has done most of the driving, so we’ve had some good talks, much time to think, beautiful scenery to see and lots of people to see at the rest stops.
I’ve also gotten to see the so called ‘ food’ at the gas stations / restaurants, all the fast food wrappers and plastic water bottles being thrown out at the rest areas and I realize there is still so much work that needs to be done!
I thought people were waking up to the hazards of plastic water bottles to their bodies and the environment?? Glass bottles or even stainless steel is the best way to go and refill them!!
I know while travelling the importance of packing healthy foods so that the crap oops I mean ‘food’ sold at the gas stations and adjoining fast food restaurants won’t be a temptation if I am really hungry.
Being healthy inside depends on what you choose to eat, think, speak and do.
I feel it’s much more important than what clothes I am wearing, what car I am driving or what star is doing or saying!
I had a couple stop and talk to us as they watched me put together a quick and healthy salad and salad dressing right on the spot – healthy eating does not have to be boring, hard or expensive. That is also one of the reasons we travel with Purium – it’s food!!
I am trying to find how to bring my message across to people especially women – one of health AND self love.
Just like snow flakes, there are many varieties of sizes and shapes.
Yet when we do things, eat things, think things and say things that don’t empower us, that don’t bring us closer to health and our natural state of joy and love how to really show and share with people that it’s not really self loving.
When we are eating lots of processed, chemical concoctions labelled as food it’s not healthy – junk in, junk out – in other words we also can’t think or act clearly – how do I know? I watch people, I see the aging in the face and body as they walk slowly and with pain or look stressed and tired – we’ve been programmed to believe by our age that we are aging and it doesn’t matter what we feed our bodies or our minds.
Question – if you are feeding your body junk food, highly processed food that are filled with addictive additives and chemicals how can you think or feel great?
Show up being the best, vibrant, healthy you possible!!
PS. While having so much time in the car I have been working on some programs using the tools I have over the years to break free from emotional eating, healthy eating, low self esteem and any body issues – we can live a great life by being healthy and being ourselves!!
